IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES: RESPONSE AND MEDICAL MANAGEMENT

The Department of Homeland Security continues to focus on response to explosive events and responders are expected to understand and mitigate Improvised Explosive Device events. In order to accomplish this goal, responders need to understand:

  • scene safety and security
  • triaging victims using the principles of mass casualty events
  • transporting victims to local facilities or burn centers
  • care of the patient who has blast and burn injuries

This program is designed to be offered as a 1-day workshop or via distance education to hospitals.
