FUN WITH ICS

This highly interactive, lively course introduces participants to the major concepts of Incident Command System (ICS). Course content is delivered in a way that engages the participants and helps them understand and retain the concepts introduced.

Length:  1 1/2 to 2 hours. The course can be customized to meet your organization's needs.

INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM (ICS) 100 AND 200

Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 are two courses in the training required for NIMS compliance. According to FEMA, "the National Incident Management System is a dynamic system, and the doctrine as well as the implementation requirements will continue to evolve . . . ."

It is important that NIMS baseline training become an integral part of organizations ongoing training programs. ICS 100 covers the basics of the incident command system and the roles and responsibilities of various sections within the ICS structure. ICS 200 covers incident command leadership and management, delegation of authority and flexibility and transfer of command. The courses are taught using interactive methods that help participants retain and apply the concepts learned.

INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM (ICS) 300 AND 400

FEMA encourages persons serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff to complete ICS 300 and ICS 400 training. The courses are taught using interactive methods that help participants retain and apply the concepts learned.

Topics covered Include:

  • CS Staffing and organization to include: reporting and working relationships and information flow.

  • Transfer of Command

  • Unified Command functions in a multi-jurisdictional or multi-agency incident

  • ICS forms

  • Resource Management

  • Interagency mission planning and procurement

  • Command and General Staff

  • Deputies and assistants

  • Unified command

  • Organizational relationships between Area Command, Unified Systems, and Emergency Operations centers (EOCs)

PLANNING & FINANCE FOR HOSPITALS (Incident Command)

This course provides in-depth training on the Incident Command Planning Section and Finance Section. The positions in these Incident Command sections are reviewed. Participants then use the job action sheets and HICS forms in a tabletop exercise. The exercise scenario includes water and power outages for 12-24 hours.
