CONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS PLANNING

Continuity of operations planning involves more than redundancy in a business' IT infrastructure. People, processes and facilities are a part of the picture as well. With estimates indicating that 60% of small businesses cease to exist after a disaster, having a comprehensive Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) ensures the longevity of your business.

A comprehensive Continuity of Operations Plan ensures a business will be able to survive external (ice storms, tornados, etc) and internal (product recalls, strikes, etc) disasters. Developing the plan includes identifying critical:

  • functions

  • positions

  • materiel

The plan should then address ways to maintain those critical items as well as recovery after the disaster.

The Center is also available to exercise existing business plans involving infectious disease/public health emergencies such as pandemic influenza. Funding for these specific exercises is provided by Nebraska Health and Human Services enabling the Center to offer this service at no charge to Nebraska businesses.
